    Strong as a stone...
This is what we have become today, even those of us who did not aspire to it. In the "Unconquered" series, the collective image of the hero. And it's not just about the guys at the front. And about all those who help to win, about the unconquered.
"Invincible" certainly refers to the work of Taras Shevchenko, who devoted his life to the struggle for the will of the Ukrainian people. The word "Invincible" is repeated in his work more than once, understanding the events of his time and predicting the future. Plastic silhouettes firmly hold on to samples of ancient sculpture, passing through the ages, reinterpreted today on the way to the future...
The works are made in the scagliola technique. So they did not become strong immediately either. This technology was developed in Italy in the 16th century. It is based on gypsum, bone glue and colored pigments. The technology makes it possible to simulate different textures. Unfortunately, today it is almost forgotten.

Serhiy Zapadnya's sculptures

“Solid as a rock... That's who we are today, even those of us who didn't seek it. The Unconquered series features a collective portrayal of a hero. And it's not just about the fighters at the front. It is also about all those who help to gain victory, about the invincibles.

"The Unconquered" certainly refers to the work of Taras Shevchenko. He devoted his life to the struggle for the freedom of the Ukrainian people. The word "Unconquered" is used repeatedly in his work, reflecting the events of his time and predicting the future.

The plasticity of the silhouettes is firmly based on the models of ancient sculpture, having passed through the centuries, and reinterpreted today on the way to the future...”
