The Kateryna Shadrina's work "Ichnia" is a kind of ironic reflection on Andy Warhol's famous work "Campbell's Soup", but with a hint of Ukrainian flavor. A fragmentary image of Madonna breastfeeding a baby makes the viewer remember the taste of condensed milk, which is produced in the small town of Ichnia, known for its "milk".

About the artist

Kateryna Shadrina is a Ukrainian contemporary artist. The artist had more than two dozen exhibitions, 19 of them were personal, including two museums - in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Odesa and the Museum of Western and Oriental Art in Odesa. In addition to painting, she creates graphics and bas-reliefs. Kateryna Shadrina's works are in private collections in Ukraine, Russia, France, Italy, Australia, Canada, USA and the Netherlands."I came to icon painting consciously. The impetus for this was the theoretical basis. I wanted to make art that makes sense, and the language of icon painting is meaningful and comprehensive. Some say that the icon is a spatial boundary between the visible and invisible world - in that case, the study of sacred art is not just exciting but also responsible", said Kateryna.
