About Artgenève 2024
Artgenève is a contemporary and modern art fair held every January in the picturesque Geneva Lake region. Under the direction of Charlotte Diwan, artgenève has evolved into a hub for art dealers, collectors, curators, and art connoisseurs.
This year, the show welcomes a prestigious selection of around 80 international galleries. Traditionally, the program is enriched by the presentation of institutions, private collections, foundations and art schools.
Cultural stakeholders from the region, such as MAMCO, the Museum of Art and History, the Center for Contemporary Art, HEAD, and the Funds of the Canton and City of Geneva will be represented here.
The programme is enriched by the participation of various institutions and prestigious private collections and the event will also feature new initiatives such as artgenève/sur-mesure, a space dedicated to large-scale works.
The artgenève-FPJourne Solo Prize is annually rewarded for the best personal exhibition presented at the show. One of the works from the award-winning stand is acquired and donated to a regional institution. In 2023, the Solo artgenève-FPJourne prize was awarded to Galerie Mezzanin for Isabella Ducrot's Solo Show. The works acquired by FP Journe were offered to MAMCO Geneva.
This approach aims in particular to consolidate the link between merchants and local institutions, and thus artgenève contributes to the enrichment of the collections of the city of Geneva.
About the location
Palexpo, Geneva's expansive international exhibition center, sets the stage for Artgenève 2024. With a single block space of 106,000 square meters near the airport and train station, Palexpo becomes a vibrant hub for the global art community.
This strategic location at the crossroads of European highways emphasizes the international reach of the art fair. Within Palexpo's walls, Artgenève 2024 transforms the space into a dynamic showcase of contemporary and modern art, fostering a global dialogue and celebration of creativity.
About the program
Sur-mesure 2024 is a selection of singular works and large-format installations presented by galleries and selected by curator Nicolas Trembley.
Inspired by 19th-century exhibition fixtures at world’s fairs and shopping malls, the first edition of artgenève/sur-mesure reinvents the concept of the fairground by adopting the atmosphere of a funfair. The chosen works explore the theme of amusement parks, featuring rides, slides, trompe-l’œil panoramas, buggy circuits, bear fights and the presence of aliens and fairy-tale characters.
