About the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine

The National Academy of Arts of Ukraine is an independent field-specific scientific and artistic institution located in Kyiv and subordinated to the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The core objective of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine is to introduce Ukrainian fundamental art history and theory of fine art, musical, theatrical and decorative arts, cinema, architecture and design into academic studies and research. The Academy's activities reflect the glorious traditions of the Ukrainian people in art, art science and education, the implementation of the highest cultural needs and aspirations of the public.

NAAU in the Conditions of War

The war in Ukraine put all cultural institutions on the brink of survival. Many artists, cultural workers and researchers were killed, removed to other parts of the country or abroad; buildings of art and museums were destroyed, cultural institutions and centers continue being temporally closed in occupied territories but partially restarted their activities in areas controlled by Ukraine, despite continuous threat of bombing or missile attacks.
The National Academy of Arts of Ukraine didn’t stop its activities even in first hard days of the aggression. The main challenge the Academy faces now is to support and provide the continuity of scientific and artistic practices not only of its members, but of young artists and researchers as well.
