The creative work of Maria Levitska, the People's Artist of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, is known widely not only in Ukraine but far beyond its borders. For over 30 years, Maria Levitska has been the head artist of the Taras Shevchenko National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Stage costume is an integral part of the process of creating not only stage images for the performers, but also the artistic vision of the performance as a whole. A stage costume sketch is one of the first units in this chain. During her creative journey, Maria Levitska made several thousand sketches, which were used to create costume designs for musical and drama theatre performances.
