Art Dubai and Vermeer exhibition
Visit the world’s leading Art Dubai fair in Dubai, the UAE, and Vermeer exhibition at the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in February-March 2023.
Art Dubai 2023: March 1-5 The 16th edition of Art Dubai returns to its iconic home at Madinat Jumeirah from March 3-5, 2023, with VIP days preceding. The fair will present exciting new global perspectives across four sections: Contemporary, Modern, Bawwaba and Digital, as well as extensive parallel programming including performances, commissions, education programmes, talks, and annual conferences.
Over the past 16 years, Art Dubai has cemented its role in being a major catalyst in the local, regional and international conversations on art from the Middle East and surrounding region of North Africa and South Asia, and putting art from these territories onto the global map.
The 2023 edition’s theme will be “Predicting the Present”. Commissioned by Shumon Basar, the Forum will invite speakers to discuss navigating through uncertain times, to share their vision of new sources of optimism, hope, and inspiration.
Johannes Vermeer at the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam: 10 February to 4 June"Never before have so many Vermeers been brought together", as the museum states in their introductory foreword. Indeed, this is the first Vermeer exhibition to be shown in the Netherlands' most prestigious art gallery – Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam – and it is set to feature a significant number of the Dutch master’s work.
As only 35 known paintings were left behind after his death, his work is rarely lent to galleries, but the Rijksmuseum has worked closely with the Museum Prinsenhof Delft (in Vermeer’s birthplace) as well as other international galleries to present a complete picture of his life and career. Newly restored works will be shown to the public for the first time, alongside well-known masterpieces such as The Geographer and The Girl with a Pearl Earring.
