The eighth edition of artmonte-carlo will be held on Saturday, July 6 & Sunday, July 7 2024, with Preview Day on July 5.
Established to provide the beautiful region of Monaco with a leading contemporary and modern art show, artmonte-carlo was launched in 2016. This year’s edition will run traditionally under the patronage of HSH Prince Albert, and under the new direction of Charlotte Diwan.
A decision to create a second exhibition of contemporary art, modern art and contemporary design, was motivated by the interest shown by gallery owners and art collectors who have experienced artgenève, as well as by the close ties between Geneva and Monaco.
With every annual edition of the show, the collectors and art lovers along the Côte d’Azur actively support this new fair which has thus grown in size and importance with each edition. On display is a range of works exhibited by only 27 Monegasque and international modern and contemporary art galleries, including 8 new ones. However, wealthy patrons and residents of the Mediterranean tax haven say they prefer the intimate size. The artworks by over 200 artists will be on show at the fair, among the galleries-exhibitors Almine Rech, Lisson Gallery, Mennour, Hauser & Wirth, Perrotin and others
As Charlotte Diwan, the Director of the fair, announced at the mid-week presentation at the Grimaldi Forum: “Our aim is to make artmonte-carlo even more attractive.” Ultimately, the aim is to “continue to diversify our buyer base”.
Visitors to the Grimaldi Forum will be able to admire both modern and contemporary art. The cultural centre is particularly aptly named, as the summer exhibition devoted to William Turner opens on July 6th. It's a particularly dynamic setting, which is much appreciated by the organisers, who will also be making the most of Monaco Art Week.
The best artwork presented at the event receives an award: The Prix Solo artmonte-carlo – F.P. Journe. The winning piece is then purchased and donated to the NMNM (Nouveau Musée National de Monaco).Official partners of artmonte-carlo 2024: F.P.Journe, The Pictet Group, Jutheau Husson, SMT FINE ART.
