Charity Art Project

On the 22nd of January, I greatly valued the opportunity to attend the opening evening of the exhibition "Les Enfants de la Guerre" (Children of the War), an initiative organized by Zhanna Bubka and Kateryna Feday, the Help Ukraine Monaco collective and Svitlana Legka from the Svitlii Charitable Foundation.
The project is raising funds for the arrangement of shelter in Primary school No. 1 of the Hostomel village council, Buchansky district, Kyiv region, Ukraine.

The event is supported by the Monegasque association AIAP UNESCO and the Municipality of Monaco. Curators Jean-Pierre Debernardi and Taisiya Savchuk-Polishuk were also involved in this artistic and social project.

The exhibition sheds light on the profound and often devastating impact of war on children, reflecting their resilience, struggles, and the unspoken emotions of those caught in conflict. The exhibition features a series of photographs by Ukrainian artists Sergii Vovk, Valentyna Petrovych and Valdemar Gorlushko. All three are keen to show human resilience in the face of horror, drawing inspiration from the work of photojournalists such as Steve McCurry and James Nachtwey. Young Ukrainians have been captured in front of destroyed buildings, bomb shelters etc.

Other highlights of the project include a lecture on Mykhailo Tereshchenko, a 19th-century Ukrainian philanthropist who lived in Monaco for much of his life, and a traditional Petrykivka painting workshop for all.
More than just a presentation of art, this exhibition serves as a powerful platform to raise awareness and support for children affected by the war, particularly in Ukraine.
The project will run from 23 to 30 January 2025, from 14:00 – 19:00Location: Salle du Comité AIAP Unesco 10 Quai Antoine 1er
All artworks are available for purchase, funds distributed to charity mission.Support the project
