During Artmonte-carlo 2025 at Grimaldi Forum

“Colours! Masterpieces from the Centre Pompidou” is the summer exhibition at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco, that opened during the Art Week in Monaco, and will be running until September 8, 2025. This visually rich show presents over 100 major works from the Centre Pompidou in Paris, all centred around the expressive and symbolic power of colour in modern and contemporary art.

Curated by Didier Ottinger, Deputy Director of the Musée National d'Art Moderne of the
Centre Pompidou, the exhibition brings together over 100 major works from the
Centre Pompidou’s collection – presented in Monaco while the Paris museum undergoes
renovation until 2030. This is one of the most extensive showcases of Centre Pompidou’s collection to travel outside Paris and includes works rarely exhibited abroad.

Visitors can expect to see iconic works by artists such as Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, Sonia Delaunay, Piet Mondrian, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Yves Klein, Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter, Anish Kapoor, and Françoise Pétrovitch, among many others. The exhibition is structured to show how colour has been used as a tool of emotion, symbolism, rebellion, purity, and experimentation across movements like Fauvism, Abstract Expressionism, Minimalism, and Pop Art.

Displayed across the expansive and modern galleries of the Grimaldi Forum, the works are presented in an immersive environment that allows colour to take centre stage.
