Domaine du Muy

"I was delighted to attend the special event on 28 June 2024 by Esther Schipper at the Domaine du Muy in the south of France, where they are presenting a selection of sculptures in a landscaped park" - Natalia Shpytkovska

The Domaine du Muy (Var) is a park dedicated to monumental sculpture nestled in a wild landscape between Saint-Tropez and Nice. The idea was born 10 years ago, and came to life due to Jean-Gabriel and Edward Mitterrand.
It was 2014, when Mitterrand and his son Edward started dreaming of creating an outdoor private venue dedicated to showcasing monumental sculpture in the South of France. Following this intention, one year later, the Domaine du Muy opened. The park lives and evolves through the regular renewal or continuity of the works and projects.

The 2024 season marks a turning point for the Domaine du Muy with the arrival of the Esther Schipper gallery, which is actively involved in the sculpture trail. From May 30 to October 20, 2024, on the occasion of this first collaboration, Esther Schipper presents major sculptures by Martin Boyce, Angela Bulloch, Ann Veronica Janssens and Julia Scher here.

The Domaine also includes "The Silver House” designed by India Mahdavi and an indoor gallery where a selection of works by Martin Boyce, Rosa Barba, Angela Bulloch, Etienne Chambaud, Simon Fujiwara, Annette Kelm, Ann Veronica Janssens and Isa Melsheimer available for view from 11 July.

Moreover, an off-site exhibition by French artist Raphaël Zarka, is until 7 July at the Domaine du Muy. The exhibition space features three sets of works produced by the artist between 2012 and 2020. His work in the expanded field of sculpture also includes photography, drawing and writing.

The Domaine du Muy is nestled between the Maures and Esterel Massifs in Mediterranean forest of cork oaks and pines. With its secluded valley, pools, and wild spaces, the Domaine du Muy sets the artworks in a space of exceptional natural beauty.
