On October 13, 2024, a special event took place at the Musée National d’Art Moderne – Centre Georges Pompidou to celebrate the Donation Perrotin & Artists, a significant contribution to the museum's contemporary art collection. This donation, organized by art dealer Emmanuel Perrotin in collaboration with 17 renowned artists, includes 23 artworks.
The participating artists include Jean-Marie Appriou, Genesis Belanger, Sophie Calle, Maurizio Cattelan, Johan Creten, Elmgreen & Dragset, Lionel Estève, Bernard Frize, Laurent Grasso, JR, Bharti Kher, Klara Kristalova, Takashi Murakami, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Paola Pivi, Tavares Strachan, and Emma Webster.
The selection includes artists already present in the museum’s collection; artists whose work has been shown in group exhibitions or solo shows; and artists entering the collection for the first time. Representing various nationalities, ages, and artistic practices, the artists selected by the Centre Pompidou form a unique and coherent whole.
The donation reflects a wide panorama of contemporary art from the past 20 years, selected by the museum's curators under the direction of Xavier Rey, and is designed to enrich the museum’s already prestigious collection.
The works were be showcased on level 4 of the Pompidou, beginning on October 14, with a special exhibition catalogue co-published by the gallery and the museum.
