Milan’s international fair of modern and contemporary art has just come to a close. This year, during the 29th edition of miart, the Fondazione Fiera Milano Acquisition Fund selected 15 works by contemporary artists for the Foundation’s art collection.
Among the international artists selected are Mario Airò (VISTAMARE, Pescara – Milan), Tamina Amadyar (Meyer Riegger, Berlin – Karlsruhe – Basel – Seoul), Naomi Boahemaa Sakyi Jnr (APALAZZOGALLERY, Brescia), Karim Boumjimar (TINA, London), Jennifer Carvalho (Franz Kaka, Toronto), Esraa Elfeky (Galleria Doris Ghetta, Ortisei, Milan), Edward Kay (Roland Ross, Margate), Juliana Matsumura (Coletivo Amarelo, Lisbon), Adrian Paci (kaufmann repetto, Milan – New York), Marinella Senatore (Mazzoleni, London – Turin), and Sasa Tkacenko (Eugster || Belgrade, Belgrade).
With an annual budget of €100,000, the Fondazione Fiera Milano Acquisition Fund focuses on acquiring works that reflect a diverse range of artistic expressions. Today, the collection counts over 140 works, housed in the Palazzina degli Orafi, and this year's acquisition continues a strong tradition from previous editions. In 2024, the Fund’s collection added works by Maximilian Arnold, Sam Bakewell, and Anna Boghiguian, among others.
Beyond acquisitions, miart 2025 recognized excellence across its various sections with a series of prominent prizes. The Herno Prize for best booth design went to LC Queisser (Tbilisi) in the Established section, while the Matteo Visconti di Modrone Prize honored Ruth Beraha at Ncontemporary for her compelling presentation.
The Orbital Cultura – Nexi Group Award commissioned a new photographic work by Linda Fregni Nagler, and the SZ Sugar miart commission selected Mario Airò (VISTAMARE) for its special project. Additionally, the Rotary Club Milano Brera Award for Contemporary Art and Young Artists acquired Renaissance (2023) by Victor Fotso Nyie (P420, Bologna).
