Royal Academy Summer Exhibition

Royal Academy Summer Exhibition: The Largest Open Submission Exhibition in the World.

The Royal Academy of Arts, located in the heart of London, is a place where art is made, exhibited and debated. Earlier this year, the RA generously hosted a Charity auction to benefit the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine. Now they display works by emerging and established artists in one exhibition flow, with the majority of the artworks available for purchase.

The Largest Open Submission Exhibition means that anyone can enter their work to be considered for inclusion. The tradition of this exhibition is annual since 1769, and each year a Royal Academician, such as Yinka Shonibare RA, Grayson Perry RA and Jock McFadyen RA, coordinates the exhibition. This year, renowned British painter David Remfry RA takes the reins as exhibition coordinator. Remfry’s Summer Exhibition explores the theme Only Connect.

Among the 1,614 featured works, one will find towering sculptures by the late Phyllida Barlow RA, Richard Malone’s dramatic mobile installation in the Wohl Central Hall, a witty painting by comedian Joe Lycett, pieces by Tracey Emin RA, Hew Locke RA, Barbara Walker RA, Gavin Turk, Lindsey Mendick, Caroline Walker and many more.

Most of the works are available to buy, and sales from the Summer Exhibition support the exhibiting artists and the RA's charitable work, including training the next generation of artists in the Royal Academy Schools.
