About the artist

Gamlet Zinkivskyi is an artist, known for his street art works and illustrations, and also works in the field of painting, graphics, art books, and photography. Gamlet was born in Kharkiv in 1986. He studied at the Kharkiv Art School and the Kharkiv Academy of Design and Arts, at the Faculty of Monumental Painting. He was expelled from the academy in 2009 for academic arrears in physical education and psychology. Hamlet's street art is distinguished by a graphic manner of execution and the presence of characteristic author's texts. In 2013, together with Zhanna Kadyrova and Mykola Rydny, he represented Ukraine at the 53rd Venice Biennale. Hamlet Zinkovsky presented two projects: "Alone with himself" (consists of many drawings made with a ballpoint pen and reveals the theme of a person's relationship with himself) and "The Book of People" (an installation of hundreds of portraits made in matchboxes).Recently, Hamlet Zinkovsky signs himself "Gam Let" - which in the interpretation of the artist means "noise of time". He does not associate his name with the famous character of William Shakespeare from the tragedy of the same name "Hamlet". Nowadays he lives and works in Kharkiv.
