About the artist
Roman Minin was born in 1981 in Dimitrov, Donetsk region. Roman Minin was born into a mining family. Propensity for fine arts allowed him to immediately enter the second year of the Kharkiv Academy of Design and Art. After graduating from university, the artist took part in a number of creative competitions and festivals, becoming a laureate in many of them. In 2010, the first exhibition of Roman Minin's paintings took place. The exhibition was called "Dreams of War". The paintings were exhibited in the Kharkiv gallery "Vova-Tanya". Since then, Roman Minin often presents his works at personal and group exhibitions.In 2012, the artist became the organizer of the street art festival in Kharkiv. At the same time, he headed the program "Isolation in the urban space" in the Donetsk center of contemporary art "Isolation". The picture "Escape Plan from Donetsk Oblast" brought him fame outside of Ukraine. Which allowed Minin to take a significant step to combine the artistic practice of a painter with social interaction and created his own scheme of rescue from imprisonment and release from a closed social system that forbids exit. He has been engaged in the theme of mythologizing the life of Donbass and the life of miners in recent years. Roman Minin became one of the artists who participated in the painting of the facade of the new building of the Kyiv Children's Clinical Hospital "OHMATDYT". In 2016 he topped the list of the most promising artists of Ukraine according to Forbes. His works are sold in the world's largest auction houses Sotheby's and Phillips.Roman Minin experiments with street art, photographs, installations, stained glass windows with artificial lighting. He works with monumental art, graphics, photography, objects and installations. Now he is a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine. He lives and works in Kharkiv.
