About the artist
Oleksii Zolotariov is a Ukrainian contemporary sculptor who works with different materials, but mostly with metal. He was born on January 31, 1985 in Kyiv. Studied at the T.H. Shevchenko State Art School at the department of sculpture. He received higher education in arts at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, from which he graduated in 2010. Zolotariov was recognized as the best young Ukrainian sculptor by KSP, and completed an internship at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Oleksii Zolotariov is a co-founder and a member of the GAZ Art Group, which came to the fore through bright artistic campaigns aimed at social and cultural analysis, communication with society, and conduction of important world-class discourses through art. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, winner of the competition from the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center for the installation of urban sculpture, winner of the Kyiv Sculpture Project 2012 (where, by the way, his work "Wind Rose" was presented), winner of the Kyiv Mayor's Award; Founder of Radius Volume Thinking Residence (Kyiv). Using the universal language of geometric shapes and volumes, Oleksii Zolotariov recreates a clear series of symbols in his works.
