About the artist
Sergiy Melnichenko is a Ukrainian contemporary artist. He was born in 1991 in Mykolayiv, Ukraine. He started practicing photography in 2009. He has participated in more than 100 solo and group exhibitions around the world for the last 10 years. He actively applies the method of staged filming, although there are also documentary ones among the projects. As he was a teenager he was engaged in dancing and performing, particularly in China. There he created a series of episodes, including Backstage (2016), for which he received the Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award. He is founder and curator of MYPH platform (photography school, collective & gallery), and also a member of UPHA – Ukrainian Photographic Alternative.
