Nick Crowe und Ian Rawlinson
Nick Crowe and Ian Rawlinson began working on this piece as the invasion began in earnest. Like many people outside Ukraine, they followed the war mainly via Telegram and other social media platforms. The starting point for their work is the extensive video footage from many perspectives, from soldiers, civilians, media, etc. They describe the piece they made as a kind of "core sample", which is of course a term they borrowed from geology. For the work, they used the videos from a single Telegram channel, and they talk about standing in one place and recording everything they see. This is the first presentation of this work, but it will also be shown next year in London on 24 February to mark the second anniversary of the invasion in full.
