My work "Stolen Childhood" is about children who were destined to see and experience a real war. About young Ukrainians, whom the Russian fascists forced to learn such terrible words as "missile attack", "bomb shelter", "evacuation"
Childhood has special colors. The sky is bright blue. The occupier steals children's childhood, steals colors, destroys their inner worlds.
I believe that after all these terrible trials, OUR VICTORY will come, and today's children will be the ones who will clean the Ukrainian land, rebuild Ukrainian cities, and save the Ukrainian nation! And while they grow up, we will defend the truth and build a free UKRAINE, Glory to Ukraine!
Feedback from art critic Iryna Khomenko:Playing with light for the installation "Stolen Childhood" by Konstantin Lapuchen creates variability in the representation and expressiveness of the work, but not in its reading. From any angle and light, the installation tells about the life of a child who was forcefully robbed of the holiday, brightness, even mundaneness. A child is a collective image of all the fates of our children: evacuated, deported, orphaned, crippled...
Kostiantyn Lapushen's "Stolen childhood"
“My work "The Stolen Childhood" is about children who had to see and experience a real WAR. It's about young Ukrainians who were forced by the Russian fascists to learn terrible words like "missile attack", "bomb shelter", "evacuation".
Childhood has peculiar colours. The skies are bright blue. The invader steals childhood from kids, steals colours, and ruins the inner worlds of children.
I believe that after all the terrible trials, OUR VICTORY will come, and the children of today will become the ones who will purify the Ukrainian land, rebuild Ukrainian cities, and preserve the Ukrainian nation! And while they grow up, we will defend the truth and build a free UKRAINE, Glory to Ukraine!”

Artist's statement:"In my work, I explore the possibilities of visualization, combine techniques, styles and directions, create a synthesis for the most appropriate visual solution. As for the directions in which I mainly work, these are installations, paintings with various materials, a mix of computer drawings and real materials, video projections, stylized sculpture.
I create music for my installations and paintings. I prefer the immersion of a person in the space of the art object or painting he created, involving lighting, music and the surrounding space. I consider art to be a very powerful tool that can and should be used for explanation, for discussion, for raising questions, for expression."
